Erika Harlitz-Kern is a historian and writer who teaches at Florida International University in Miami. She has bylines with The Washington Post, The Daily Beast, The Week, Tordotcom, Mental Floss, among others, and has been featured on The Story of God with Morgan Freeman on the NatGeo Channel. She is the winner of Writers’ Digest’s 26th Free “Dear Lucky Agent” Competition: Fantasy and Science Fiction and is the recipient of the RETI Excellence in Teaching Award.
