On April 11, 2017, I was interviewed by the blog Geek Dad/Geek Mom. We talked about racism and diversity in speculative fiction, about the state of the art in historical research, and how to locate trustworthy sources when you do your own historical research when writing speculative fiction.
And of course, I recommended some books. And referenced Stargate SG-1.
On August 25, 2015, I published the following post on Book Riot.
J.R.R. Tolkien and the Exorcism of the Tape Recorder
Recently it was announced that a hitherto unknown short story by J.R.R. Tolkien named The Story of Kullervo will be published by HarperCollins, thus placing Tolkien in the company Harper Lee, Truman Capote, and other authors who recently have had allegedly unknown manuscripts discovered and published.
I have no doubt that The Story of Kullervo will be a good read because Tolkien is a good storyteller. But one of my favorite Tolkien stories involves the man himself, namely the story of J.R.R. Tolkien and the Exorcism of the Tape Recorder.
